Sunset at Ulu Watu and Kecak “ fire dance “ performance

View Uluwatu templeKecak Dance

Enjoy a leisurely ride to Bali’s southernmost extremity, through the desolate limestone hills of Bukit peninsula. The topography of the terrain, being the only non-volcanic one, offers unique sights dominated by plants of arid land such as teak and cactus. Always under-populated, it was a no man’s land, except for the few native settlers, during pre-tourism time. Nowadays, lured by the beauty of its deserted beaches and excellent surfs, visitors have come and some investors have even built villas on several of its hill-tops overlooking the Indian Ocean. At the very end of this peninsula, perched on a sheer cliff, is the highly venerated temple of Ulu Watu. A group of monkeys that dwell the surrounding forest are regular visitors….Beware your glasses!!! Toward sunset, a troop of dancers from the village stage the hilarious Kecak dance performance, climaxed by a semi-trance fire-walk.
